On MLK Day, alongside JCCMW’s large partner network, we will welcome up to 300 unique individuals to provide community service by packing full non-perishable meals, called Blizzard Boxes, including a protein, vegetable, fruit, starch, soup and water bottle. These meals are designated as “Blizzard Boxes” to serve as a shelf stable meal in times of poor weather when community members aren’t able to get to Community Services Associates or HOPE for a hot meal. Our youngest volunteers will decorate the meal boxes and create welcoming notes to connect our volunteers to those who are benefitting from the service. JCCMW and partner volunteers will create and pack up to 400 non-perishable meals to be donated to Community Service Associates in Mount Vernon and HOPE in New Rochelle.
