Unmask Hate
Support the Anti-Masked Harassment Bill
When perpetrators of hate hide behind masks, they don’t just evade accountability — they embolden others to spread hate. Anti-masking laws were put in place over a century ago to help end the KKK’s reign of terror. Now, it’s time to bring back these measures.
Since October 7, an increasing number of antisemitic and other hateful incidents have involved masked individuals threatening others, using the cloak of anonymity to shield themselves from consequences.
UJA Action is supporting legislation to reinstate and strengthen anti-masking laws — with careful carve-outs for health and religious exemptions — ensuring that those who seek to engage in masked harassment can no longer hide from being brought to justice. New Yorkers deserve to feel safe in their own city.
Your voice matters. Urge your representatives to take action and help put an end to masked intimidation.
