INFO FOR
SYNAGOGUES

When you hear the word synagogue, what do you think? A place to come for inspiration. A place for family. A place to act on your values. A nurturing community.

More than anything, synagogues are hubs of Jewish life, and as such, they need to adapt to our rapidly changing world. And sometimes, change requires help.

We advocate for the critical importance of synagogue life within the fabric of the Jewish community by providing resources that develop leadership, embrace diversity, and lead to financial sustainability.

Environmental Sustainability for Synagogues

UJA is helping synagogues save money and the environment through energy efficiency measures. In collaboration with partners such as Adamah, we provide resources, host webinars, and help convene and connect synagogues to help them plan for a sustainable future.

Connecting the Community for the Jewish Holidays

Each year, UJA is proud to offer listings of High Holiday services and Passover Seders open to the community, to help ensure everyone has somewhere to observe these important Jewish traditions. Please check the UJA website around these holidays for a complete list of opportunities.

Partnerships, Collaborations, and Mergers

UJA has contracted with SeaChange Capital Partners to offer consulting services for our synagogues to focus on opportunities for collaboration, new nonprofit partnerships, and potential mergers.

Proactive Planning for Small Congregations

UJA is working with the Jewish Community Legacy Project (JCLP) to engage synagogues at any stage of their lifecycle in a process of proactively planning for the future. This includes support for managing physical and financial assets, leadership succession, and other challenges of long-term planning.

Questions or interested in connecting with JCLP? Contact the Synagogue Strategy Team.

Charitable Gift Annuity

Did you know that UJA administers a charitable gift annuity program (CGA) on behalf of many synagogues? It’s a great way to make charitable contributions to a synagogue you care about.
